"Machete" Movie Review

September 17, 2010
Author: Paul Giliberto

If you watched the Grindhouse double feature a few years ago, you might have seen a trailer for a movie called Machete. Now at the time, the trailer was just something thrown together for the Grindhouse DF but sometime between now and then, Robert Rodriguez developed a story that would turn into a movie.

Now if you're looking for a tasteful, artsy movie with an intricate plot and a nice slick presentation, this movie isn't for you. Machete is a throwback to 70's action movies and it isn't afraid to go more over the top than Sylvester Stallone in an arm wrestling match (Over the Top reference anyone?). The movie embraces it's campy tendencies but still delivers a very enjoyable, testosterone filled, gore fest.

And the movie really isn't bad, in fact you will probably be surprised at the number of stars sprinkled throughout the flick: Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, and Lindsay Lohan all play pivotal roles (and just for the record, Lindsay did not harm any babies during the filming of the movie). Robert F'N DeNiro is in this movie as well, that was a nice surprise.

So if you're in the mood for an action packed, bloody good time, this movie might be what you're looking for. I wouldn't say that it is as fun to watch as the Expendables, but it is damn close.

I give this movie ***1/2 stars out of a possible five.

"The Crazies" Movie Review

September 7, 2010
This movie was pretty good, although it could have been a lot better. The story line was alright and it picked up right from the beginning.

It was almost like a zombie movie, but people were getting sick from drinking the water. Hmmm, so instead of wanting brains, they just lose all common sense and randomly kill people, interesting.

There were a couple parts that made me jump, but not really due to any scariness or anything, mostly just sudden movements. Some freaky stuff happens, and there ...

"Red Dead Redemption" Game Review

September 5, 2010
Okay, so first of all, this is not just Grand Theft Auto in Old West Times. This game is awesomely better than any GTA I have ever played. I really enjoy this game because while some missions may be a little tedious, it is relatively easy in comparison to say GTA IV. And thank goodness they didn't have helicopters back then because I hated that part on GTA IV.

I mean yes some cops might chase you around if you shoot some hooker in the middle of town or maybe say "accidentally" shoot some scra...

"2012" Movie Review

September 3, 2010
Well first off let me say, 2012 was by far the worst disaster movie that I have ever seen.

The over the top scenarios were just plain unbelievable and the story line was way too generic. Any time that something actually entertaining happened you cold totally tell that it was all computer animation. I know that you can’t really destroy the world and all, but they could have tried a little harder.

I have seen plenty of other disaster movies that had more believable action. For example, Knowin...

"Bruno" Movie Review

September 1, 2010
First of all, what the fuck is up with this movie? This is by far the worst movie to date that I have ever seen. I hated it, and did NOT enjoy seeing nasty shriveled up testicles at all. If I wanted to see that I would walk in on my dad while he is taking a cold shower after watching a movie starring Angelina Jolie.

I have nothing against homosexuals but they went a little over the top with this. I know a few gay men and they act nothing like what this movie portrayed. But I guess if you’re...

Kick-Ass Movie Review

August 31, 2010
Basically, the name says it all, because this movie was Kick-Ass. Well, I must say, I thought this movie was going to be kind of lame. But I was pleasantly surprised by all the action and the good story line.

Chloe Grace Moretz was totally awesome in this movie. She is going to be getting a lot of parts in movies after this one. Nicolas Cage is an awesome actor and does a great job. Although Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s character could have been better, he did well.

Aaron Johnson does a good jo...
